The end of the year is always a good time to recap and reflect on the achievements and goals that were left behind. It is also a time to set new goals. The looming expectations are intermingled with confidence and uncertainties but with the motivation and the self-improvement spirit that always accompanies us. Naturally, the gratitude towards all those who have supported us over the years opening new horizons and those who have joined us to contribute their energy, skills, and knowledge along the way cannot be overlooked. For me, the most important thing is always to recognize and appreciate their commitment to the strategic paths and projects we set to achieve our mission.
This 2022 was a year in which we boosted CIFI's Asset Management area. CIFI's vision is to be the bridge between institutional investors and the real economy and play a relevant role in closing the investment gap in sustainable infrastructure. Viable projects are needed, but so is the mobilization of funds to finance them.
CIFI Asset Management offers institutional investors the ability to leverage CIFI's credit capacity, advisory, and long-standing services to identify, structure, and finance projects to be key players in the middle market.
I want to mention the Fondo de Inversión Cerrado Libre para el Desarrollo de Infraestructuras Dominicanas (Free Closed-Ended Investment Fund for the Development of Dominican Infrastructure). This fund has the participation of the Dominican Republic’s main Pension Fund Administrators, who have already invested US$ 250 million in projects that generate social value and sustainability. Its purpose is to make the Dominican Republic more competitive. The Fund has supported financing projects such as the Canoa Solar solar energy park, the Los Guzmancito wind farm, the SIBA natural gas-fired power plant, and the Blue Mall/JW Marriott project in Santo Domingo to continue promoting tourism in a country that carries it as its flag.
I reiterate that it is thanks to the trust of our clients and investors and the professionalism of each of our collaborators in their different areas that each project undertaken by Cifi is successfully executed and managed.
It has been 20 years of this dynamic synergy. So we celebrated it with joy on December 14 at an event that brought together customers, investors, suppliers, partners, friends, and collaborators with whom we have traveled this road of work and effort, but above all, of vision.
A vision that has led us to develop more than 200 clean energy projects in more than ten countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The energy has benefited more than 1.8 million lives throughout the region, avoiding more than 933,000 tons of CO2 emission. I could cite more figures and achievements that together we have accomplished in 20 years. And I would do so with pride and satisfaction, but I would invite you to close your eyes and visualize all that we can achieve to transform our world.

Profound commitment to marine wildlife
|

On Saturday, December 3, CIFI collaborators and family members worked together with members of Tortuguías on a special sea turtle egg hatching day. The time was appropriate to engage in some beach cleaning while learning more about the work that the foundation does. After seeing all that the foundation does, including teaching children and communities the importance of taking care of the seas and marine fauna, we decided to become a "Empresa Amiga" supporting them every month starting in 2023.

20 years of CIFI. A look back to see the future.
|

On December 14, 2022 CIFI celebrated its twentieth anniversary.
It was a special night in which Hotel La Compañía in Panama's Casco Viejo was dressed in lights. More than 160 guests attended the exclusive event, which included important regional representatives from banking, investment funds, infrastructure project clients and others, who were welcomed by the entire CIFI team.
César Cañedo-Argüelles, CEO of CIFI shared with the audience emotional words of gratitude in his keynote speech. He recalled the beginnings of the company and thanked the trust and effort of all those who have been in the journey and shared the vision of CIFI. He stressed that as we turn 20, we should not only look back and celebrate success. One must also look to the future. Set plans and actions to continue and create a better future for partners, investors and collaborators. A future that, above all, includes the planet and all the people impacted by projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
